I am a musician by trade. Living in Los Angeles since 2016 - As comes with living in any city, it can be exhausting, so I returned home to Queenstown, New Zealand for a reset.

I sat down one day after being home a few months, overlooking the remarkable view (pun intended) of the mountains and started to doodle. I had seen fine-line drawings done before, a few friends even in the same country do similar art, but I was aching to draw something that required me to not think about anything but the work I was doing right then and there.

I drew upon my old skills in using traditional fountain pens with calligraphy sets I have been gifted over the years. Trying to muster up a unique approach to an age-old technique, eventually realizing it doesn’t matter how original or unoriginal I wanted to be. I draw for me, no-one else. It’s a type of therapy in a way. Curving lines that seem to have no end that weave in and out of each other that just so happen to work really well in expressing New Zealand’s dramatic landscape. More and more people saw the now numerous doodles that lay around the house, and suggested I sell them in the local market in town.

I am so, so grateful to know now my art has been picked by honeymooners and families alike as mementos upon conclusion to their holidays here in New Zealand. I am also honored to know my art has been purchased by royalty, world leaders, ambassadors, celebrities and politicians and has been spread out all over the world. To know my art is admired by such a vast and eclectic audience is truly humbling.
